A climate for change
The scope to increase the sustainability of compressed air installations is huge. It is an area where we work hard to make gains in terms of reduced power consumption, energy saving, carbon reduction and ultimately lower running costs. When you consider that energy costs make up about 80% of the whole life costs of an installation or that up to 30% of generated compressed air can be lost to leaks, it’s clear that there’s work that can be done to improve the situation.
Data logging, energy audits, new technologies can all move the needle in favour of the environment. However, there are many other, more fundamental considerations to take into account. Simple measures such as sizing the system correctly is important as is the selection of downstream equipment such as dryers and filters.
At Motivair we consider all the options to maintain compressed air performance without sacrificing the environment.
