PSSR Manual and Review

Overview

Why do I need a PSSR manual?

If pressure equipment fails in use, it can seriously injure or kill people nearby and cause serious damage to property. Every year about 150 cases involving pressure systems are reported to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).  Around six of these result in fatal or serious injury, some cause serious damage to property, but all result in the loss of production.

The Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000 (PSSR) state that it is the owners or users responsibility to ensure that the whole system is assessed by a ‘competent person’ to certify that it is fit for use through having:

A suitable PSSR Manual and Written Scheme of Examination (WSE) in place before the system is operated
Regular examinations to ensure the PSSR Manual and Written Scheme Of Examination is kept up to date
The HSE have prosecuted a number of companies for not complying with these regulations with fines in one case of £275,000.

How can Motivair help?

Motivair work with external independent inspection engineers, who can provide reports that are acceptable to the HSE and other third parties who may have interests in the information and ensuring that the pressure system remains safe and is inspected periodically.

By purchasing and maintaining your pressure systems safety manual through Motivair, you will have covered the documented evidence required by the Pressure Systems Safety regulations 2000.
