Emergency Air for IraqDrilling for oil is notoriously dangerous. Oilmen often work in toxic environments, relying on compressed air for survival. Any interruption is disastrous. Robust back up systems are essential. Motivair was recently asked to design and built one such system for the oil fields of Southern Iraq. This is a supplementary reserve breathing-air supply. If the normal source air should fail an alarm sounds and the Motivair system kicks in to deliver air for five minutes. This is enough for three workers to make their escape. The reserve air is stored in four 9-litre cylinders with a maximum operating pressure of 3,000psi (207 bar) and provides breathable air conforming to BS EN 12021. Workers throughout the world contending with hazardous environments such as nuclear power, petrochemical, pharmaceuticals and asbestos handling, also rely on Motivair to help them breathe more easily. |
